I'm not sure I agree with going with Morgan Freeman for the rest of the series. Hacksaw has been our guy for a while. He's recently been injured, but he should be near full strength again soon. He's the kind of veteran leadership this team needs to lead them deep into the playoffs. Freeman's recent performance has been impressive, but how long will it hold out? Not only that, Freeman is a UFA next year, while Hacksaw is our future. What kind of message would this send? I say go with Fleury. Erm, I mean Hacksaw.

I don't like these close scores when there is total domination on the ice. Its the kind of jobber game that a weak team can steal. Fleury hasn't been as outstanding tonight, but I think its a bit of a stretch to say he has sucked.
Apparently, we're back to the "old" NHL where you can just tackle people at will...just crap IMO. At least the Pens didn't get jobbed by giving up a penalty after none were called in their favor.

I really do think this was Ottawa's best effort. Their home crowd will be a factor, but that isn't any reason we can't embarrass them. They interviewed me at the game for KDKA.. They asked what the crowd atmosphere was like and I responded "Yea, it's crazy. It's loud, everyones here, I even say Pensblog Charlie lurking around."
.. they cut it out and instead showed me talking about how we'll go "all the way". bastards.
Turk, noone is planing the Stanley Cup parade already. I've haven't seen one c-blogger write that the cup is ours because we won 2 games at home against Ottawa. It seems like your the only one not truly excited about this win. Provide "perspective" later, get drunk and celebrate the huge win now.

game thoughts:
In the bigger picture we have 3 guys on hot streaks right now who aren't in our top three players( skill wise) (malk, sid, hoss)
seeing guys like syko, malone, and roberts bury the puck means a lot! It can be taken as a really good sign for the playoffs.
Even though crosby's assists were secondary. They were all on very hard-worked shifts. My point here is, if crosby doesnt touch the puck on those goals, we dont even have the opportunity to bury it.

Lastly, and i know you hear me when i say this BNG66 cotton eye joe made the malone goal that much better. on the cbc feed the audience was on camera when it came on and it was priceless to see some of their reactions.

So, i never post comments but i had to say this: I went to a concert at diesel club tonight and they had the game on a TV at the bar.
While I am an avid Pens fan, i had to shift interest back and forth from the show to the game. The concert ended right before Malone's goal with about 1 minute remaining.
Nothing beats a crowd going from screaming for their favorite band to "Let's Go Pens!" in .5 seconds.
The claps for the win were pretty much as loud as the claps for the show.

I had the KFC buffet for lunch today, and it may have been the biggest mistake of my life as I shat myself four times during the game, the biggest and best one at the 18:58 mark of the third period. By that time I didn't think I'd have anything left, it must have been that one extra cornbread muffin.

I am keeping it in perspective...we WON and I'm happy as HELL.
But if you can't enjoy the wins along the way, you also cannot appreciate how important each and every one really is.
MY attitude means zilch as I cannot control a single thing the coaches or players do when the pucks drop.
Fans watch and celebrate the good stuff and mourn the bad. It's not like what we do makes any difference to the players.
I'm not any higher than I would be low if we lost.
That doesn't mean I've lost focus on what still needs to be done.
